Meet Zephyr

It’s not often you see an elf in the middle of Brooklyn, let alone a tall, blond, gorgeous elf in the middle of the most prestigious performing arts high school in NYC. And yet, that’s just where Zephyr Addler finds herself in my YA series.

Me, My Elf & I Chapter 1 Selfish Elf Wish Chapter 1

A few things Zephyr would like you to know about elves:

  • First off, real Elves aren’t the cute little pointy-ear creatures that make shoes for poor cobblers or Christmas presents in Santa’s workshop.
  • Elves pretty much look like erdlers (that’s what we call humans) except we all tend to be tall, thin, and pale with very blond straight hair and green eyes.
  • By nature, we are very kind and have a long fuse, but don’t make us mad because we can be quite nasty when offended.
  • All elves are born with some magical powers, but it differs among individuals. It takes talent and practice to develop magic skills.
  • Most of our magic centers on healing but it can also be used to give people body ailments such as strange rashes, bumps, bruises in peculiar shapes, and hair problems or to bring on bad dreams. Elves can also bring disease to animals, but we have to be really super mad to do something like that.
  • Elves become ill and temporarily lose some of our magic if we use our powers for ill-will
  • Elves who are too mean for too long become Dark Elves and are banished from the elfin community.
  • Elves live longer than humans but do eventually die.
